At Kind Minds Occupational Therapy, we believe that meaningful growth begins with feeling safe, understood, and supported. Every person has unique strengths, experiences, and goals, and therapy should reflect that.
We provide occupational therapy services for children, teens, and adults in Pictou County, Truro, and Antigonish County, supporting individuals through challenges related to sensory processing, emotional regulation, executive functioning, mental health, life transitions, and everyday participation. Whether services take place in our New Glasgow clinic, at home, in the community, or virtually, our focus remains the same: helping people build the skills and confidence they need to participate in the activities that matter most to them.

Our Mission
We’re committed to making high-quality occupational therapy more accessible to individuals and families in rural Nova Scotia.
At Kind Minds OT, therapy is collaborative, individualized, and neurodiversity-affirming. We work alongside clients and families to understand what matters most to them and develop practical strategies that fit naturally into everyday life. Our practice is grounded in sensory processing, emotional regulation, and trauma-informed care, with a focus on helping clients participate more fully in the activities that are meaningful to them.
Through clinic, home, community, school, and virtual services, we strive to provide care that is compassionate, practical, and built around the unique needs of every client.
What To Expect
Your First Appointment
Your First Appointment
Your first session is all about getting to know you. We'll spend time learning about your strengths, challenges, routines, and goals, while exploring what you'd like to achieve through occupational therapy.
Depending on the reason for your visit, this may include conversation, observation, standardized assessments, or functional activities. Together, we'll develop a plan that reflects your priorities and provides a clear direction for therapy.
Ongoing Therapy
Ongoing Therapy
No two therapy sessions look exactly the same. Every session is individualized to meet your goals and may include play-based activities, movement, sensory strategies, emotional regulation, executive functioning support, real-world skill development, parent coaching, education, or practical strategies to use at home, school, work, or in the community.
Therapy evolves as you do, ensuring that sessions remain meaningful, engaging, and relevant to everyday life.
Occupational therapy is an ongoing process, and goals often change as progress is made. We'll regularly review what's working, celebrate successes, adjust strategies when needed, and collaborate with you throughout the process. Whether you're building new skills, increasing independence, or navigating life's challenges, we're here to support you every step of the way.

What Makes Kind Minds Different?
At Kind Minds, we believe occupational therapy should fit into real life, not exist only within the therapy room.
Rather than focusing on isolated skills, we work collaboratively with clients and families to understand the whole picture. Therapy is built around meaningful goals and practical strategies that can be carried into everyday routines at home, school, work, and in the community.
We recognize that progress looks different for everyone. Some goals are achieved through play and movement, while others come through conversation, sensory strategies, environmental changes, coaching, or building confidence over time. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, because there is no one-size-fits-all person.
